Monday Night Football’s Memorable Moments
The first Monday Night Football game was played on September 21st, 1970 and pitted the Cleveland Browns against the New York Jets in Cleveland. The Browns won by a score of 31-21 over New York and the rest was history.
During an October 29th, 1973 game between the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs, MNF announcer “Dandy” Don Meredith had been drinking and uttered the infamous phrase “We’re in the Mile High City, and I sure am”.
On November 27th, 1978 the San Francisco 49ers hosted the Pittsburgh Steelers; earlier in the day San Francisco mayor George Moscone and city superintendent Harvey Milk had been murdered.
During a Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots game on December 8th, 1980, announcer Howard Cosell broke the news to the entire nation that former Beatle John Lennon had been murdered in front of his apartment in New York City.
Midway through the December 5th, 1983 game between the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys, Howard Cosell referred to Redskins receiver Alvin Garret (who is African American) as a “little monkey”. The commotion surrounding this event led to Cosell stepping down from Monday Night Football following the 1983 season.
On October 17th, 1983 the Packers and Redskins played the highest scoring game in Monday Night Football history with the Packers winning by a score of 48-47.
One week later, on October 24th, 1983 the New York Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals played to the first and only tie game in Monday Night Football history with score being 20-20 after overtime.
The famous 1985 game between the Redskins and the Giants where Lawrence Taylor sacked Joe Theismann, breaking his leg and ending his career was shown on Monday Night Football.
Later in 1985, Monday Night Football would be the stage where the unbeaten 1985 Chicago Bears, on their way to a Super Bowl Championship, would sustain their only loss of the season to the Miami Dolphins.
The Dolphins would again make Monday Night Football history the very next year when they were part of the biggest blow out ever on Monday Night Football. The Dolphins played the 10-1 New York Jets but defeated them by a score of 45-3.
On October 17th, 1994 Monday Night Football hosted a duel for the ages. Joe Montana brought his Kansas City Chiefs into a game against the Denver Broncos led by John Elway. The Broncos were trailing 24-21 with 1:29 left in the game when Elway ran the ball into the endzone from four yards out giving his team the lead 28-24. Joe Montana then took his team on a 75 yard drive ending with a touchdown with 8 seconds remaining in the game giving the Chiefs a 31-28 victory.
On October 23rd, 2000 the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets would again participate in a memorable battle. In the 4th quarter the score was 30-7 in favor of the Miami Dolphins. Vinny Testaverde went on to lead the Jets in scoring 23 consecutive 4th quarter points to tie the game up. Then, Jets kicker John Hall kicked an overtime field goal for the victory making it not only the longest 4th quarter comeback in Monday Night Football history, but the second longest in NFL history.
In an October 6th, 2003 game between the Buccaneers and Colts, the Colts overcame a 35-14 deficit with 3:43 remaining to tie the game and then win it in overtime.
On December 22, 2003, the Brett Favre of the Packers dismantled the Oakland Raiders by throwing for four first half touchdowns and 399 yards in the game resulting in a 41-7 victory. This game came one day after Favre’s father had passed away.
On December 5th, 2005 the Seahawks shutout of the Eagles by a score of 42-0, tied the mark at the time for largest margin of victory in a Monday Night Football game. The game featured the Seahawks scoring three defensive touchdowns.
Monday Night Football has been host to some of the best games and most memorable moments in NFL history. Though the game is now brought to us by ESPN, football fans every where hope that tradition stays the same.
Early NFL Superbowl Odds AFC -10 Trashed with Colt’s Loss
The Steelers are Broncos are very legitimate AFC teams but public perception goes a long blueprint in inducing NFL Superbowl Odds. In fact, Las Vegas is going to shade the line on the the public team in the Superbowl. I would even go so far as to say that if the Steelers made it to the Superbowl, that they could even be underdogs to the Seattle Seahawks.
My advice to anybody in the future years is when they eye an early betting line like this AFC -10, to go against the public perception. The best bet in the early line would be to purchase the NFC at +10 because the line was completely formulated based on the assumption the Indianapolis Colts were making it to the Superbowl. There is value if they do not. With a Broncos and Steelers matchup possibly being a 3-7 point spread, you can select the AFC team and hope for a middling residence. A middling status is when you both on both sides of a game and gain both of them.
Football – Is It Becoming Too Dangerous?
Let’s start with the theory that football has become too dangerous and then we can present opposing arguments. The main reason that critics claim that football has become too dangerous is that the players themselves have become way too big. Years ago, to have a man on a team who was 300 pounds was an amazing thing to see. Now, a 300 pound lineman is average. Men are constantly topping 325 and 350 with no sweat at all. When bigger bodies start falling on you and running into you, there is going to be a greater probability that you’re going to get hurt, even with all the padding.
Football players are also faster than they were years ago. When a running back is carrying the football into the secondary and he gets run at by a charging linebacker at the speed of which these guys come at you, well, let’s just say it’s not the most pleasant feeling in the world. You can get more than just the wind knocked out of you.
Many would sat that the number of injuries today more than support this theory that football has become too dangerous. Many injuries, if not life threatening, come very close to it and in many cases have ended careers. Plus there is also the painful truth that many of these players, years after they retire, have aches and pains that stay with them for the rest of their lives.
Those who say that football has not become too dangerous and argue against the “bigger player” problem claim that these bigger players are in better condition than players of years ago and therefor can withstand more punishment. They say that it is because these men are in better condition that the game is not only not more dangerous, but may even be less dangerous than ever, especially with the advances and improvements made in the equipment that they wear. Faster players mean faster players at both ends of the field, thus making it easier for a running back to dodge that oncoming linebackers running tackle.
Again, it is not our intention to take either side. Certainly there are valid points to be made for each side. A football player’s mother will probably feel the game is way too dangerous since she’s worrying about her little boy getting his skull cracked. But for the casual or even big fan, this may not be something that they give much thought at all to. Football is what it is and they accept it.
We’ll let you draw your own conclusions.

Drug Avenue” (la Via della Droga), is a fascinating,
action-packed movie, pulling all the stops for thrills and
action, not excluding plenty of gun-shooting, in a race between
the criminal element and law enforcement. There’s motorcycle,

airplane and car chases around Italy on land, foot and air.
The action is dubbed in English, in an extremely fluent,
understandable manner.
The success of this movie, is that it is outstanding in its
quality considering the “technology” that was at the director’s
disposal at the time. Obviously, the Hollywood studios, with
100’s of millions of USD greater budgets, and with technology 20
years newer than at the time the film was made, create products
these days that are measurably different. But are they really
that much better ? Some things never change, such as the human
species, emotion, and the cultural, economic and social aspects
of a country, whether it by Italy, USA, etc.
Having been filmed in Europe, in 1977, anyone with memories of
hat era, will judge as occasionally comical the immediately
recognizable FIAT vehicle models of the time, and others (such
as Citroen 2 Horse Power, FIAT, small compact Fords, etc.), the
presentation of outdoor and indoor cafes, pinball machines,
cobble stone roads, and overall landscape scenes from the
Italian countryside, that are almost identical to those found in
Spain, and Portugal.
The soundtrack is extremely well chosen, as well, with a few
repetitive riffs, reminiscent of the 70’s heavy metal scene,
such as Yngwie Malmsteen’s style or Black Sabbath, or Jean Luc
Ponty’s more fusion jazz elements.
The opener is somewhat provocative to perhaps those residing
outside the major agglomerations, by depicting the red light
district major metropolises around the world, such as those of
Tokyo, Amsterdam, Thailand or Hong Kong, New York, London, and
from there, progresses to show a certain marginal element of
society. These are outside of the mainstream, consuming and
trafficking at times heroin, visibly. The marketing aspect is
also touched upon, by a character admitting that free drugs were
supplied to school kids to get them hooked from an early age
into the substances, not unlike major American and multinational
corporations give away free comic books, DVD’s, breakfast cereal
with other propaganda, to impart in their minds a brand loyalty
that will pay off bigtime when the kids become breadwinners and
adults.
Considering the outstanding results the director obtained with
the budget and technology available in 1977, the cast can be
proud of the results, as it’s cool enough for the DVD to be
pulled out a few times again, considering the extremely sharp
digital filming, stimulating story. As a bonus, there’s a
director commentary in the extras.
Heroin Busters is one of a few recent Enzo Castellari action flicks put out by Blue Underground…and it’s not so hot. It’s not bad exactly, it’s just kinda boring. I watched it all the way through, and it has it’s moments, but for the mostpart it’s just kinda flat. Italian action star/prettyboy Fabio Testi is an undercover cop in the middle of a sting in the international heroin underworld. The immortal David Hemmings is his partner, and the only cop who knows that Testi’s undercover. The whole film is pretty much a step by step drug dealing sting with no real excitement or drama. Like I said, it’s not terrible, but you begin to wonder when something cool’s gonna happen. Things do pick up a bit in the last act when Testi’s cover’s blown and he’s on the run from the dealers who want revenge, but by that time it’s too little too late. The film ends with probably the most boring plane chase ever put on film. Testi’s fun to watch as usual. Hemmings is good, but ultimately his role is kinda…not pointless exactly, but he just doesn’t really have much to do. Castellari has definitely made better. Street Law is a good example.

In some reviews I have written about other B, or Exploitation, movies here, I have described some of these low-budget films as being better than merely B movies – actual high-quality drama films with an Exploitation tag. This is not the case with Alley Tramp and Over 18 and Ready. Alley Tramp is exactly what camp movie afficionados are looking for when they dig through these films, looking for a gem. The acting is delightfully awful, there is barely a story, the set pieces are tacky . . . The scene where the teeange girl who the film centers around informs her parents, via some of the most unconvincing yelling ever committed to celluloid, that they can no longer control her, will have you giggling and rewinding for playback. Over 18 and Ready is also pure B-movie, and not quite as enjoyable as Alley Tramp. A young woman who wants to make it in Hollywood subjects herself to all manner of abuse and exploitation to land a role in a smut film, sure that this acting job will get her career going. What makes the movie watchable is how fascinatingly stoic Mary McRea, the actress who plays the lead role, remains as she is pawed, whipped, and taken advantage in many other ways by the film’s director, his lesbian wife, the other actors in the movie . . . As always with Something Weird videos, there is a treasue trove of extras, the most entertaining of which on this set is a 30-minute Christian scare film about the dangers of getting too involved with your boyfriend/girlfriend when you are a teenager.
The titles of the two main films tells you all you need to know. ALLEY TRAMP is hilarious and wall to wall nudity. The acting is hokey and inept but that adds to its charm. The most important thing is that the lead actress is young & gorgeous to look at even when clothed and while not exactly a teenager, could definitely pass for a co-ed. She spends a lot of her time in her room dancing and then stripping … and then gets to making out with her boyfriend in lots of different places … fun for us … of course, her main “trampiness” comes from the fact mom & dad spend a lot of time naked or making out with others (fortuntely, we only see dad making out with his secretary). The print is a little rough and all b&w but still fun and the girl is all natural and mostly in underwear or nude, a great C-movie.

OVER 18’s lead is more statuesque and not quite an ingenue but looks great nude – and she spends a substantial portion of the film in that state. And of course, to really make it in Hollywood, you need to make out with a couple other women … so again, recommended as a fine example of C-grade movie making with no pretentions of grandeur (attractive women, most nude, minimal plot, great b-roll footage). Print is also a little rough but adds to its charm.
There are three bonus movies – a McGraw Hill teenage instructional film – the girls are attractive but of course, as this was shown in churches and schools, no nudity. There is another shorter teenage you-gotta-listen-to-your-parents film about the dangers of letting your hormones go astray … again, the girls are attractive but no nudity. Both prints are rough also but again, perhaps better viewed that way
Buy,Download, Or Stream Alley Tramp/Over 18…and Ready! Click Here
The third bonus is worthiness depends on your taste. Two beefy, burlesque-type D-cup older women sit on a couch naked and the camera follows and pans, tilts up & down their body as they interact with each other (talking, pillow fight, light touching, etc …)
In addition, you get the usual great trailers.

Like any good sports movie, the subtitled “Rudo y Cursi” is not at all about sports. The competition exists on a much more fundamental level: One brother is pitted against the other in a battle over who the better person is. Even more fundamental is the battle each brother wages with himself between his talent and his passion, neither of which seem to go hand in hand. The strength of this film is that it relies on these simple, understandable ideas to get its point across. It also relies on clearly defined characters that behave realistically. The brothers, for example, seem not like archetypal clones but rather like actual human beings, shifting back and forth between loving and hating each other. While none of this makes for groundbreaking cinema, it does allow for an enjoyable film that’s sometimes fun, sometimes dramatic, and always charming.

The film, written and directed by Carlos Cuarón (Alfonso’s brother), is about Tato (Gael García Bernal) and Beto (Diego Luna), brothers from a rural Mexican village where life revolves around a banana plantation. As they play soccer, they’re spotted by a stranded talent scout named Batuta (Guillermo Francella), who doubles as the film’s narrator. As smooth as can be, he offers them a chance to try out for a professional team. From this, we get a much better understanding of who the brothers are: Tato clearly has talent on the field, but his real dream is to be a famous singer; Beto’s dream is to be a goalie, although he seems better suited for a career in gambling. Both seem determined to help their mother, who’s married to a new husband neither one of them have any patience for.
It’s the eager and ignorant Tato who Batuta chooses first, and within no time, he’s taken to Mexico City and given the nickname “Cursi” (which translates as “vulgar”). The quick-tempered Beto eventually joins his brother, leaving behind a wife, a few children, and a steady job. He earns the nickname “Rudo” (which translates as “coarse”).

As they both go through the ups and downs of playing on a professional soccer team–and this definitely includes the many hazing rituals in the locker room showers–they engage in other activities. Tato begins dating a beautiful TV personality and produces a music video for the Spanish version of “I Want You to Love Me.” Beto gets sidetracked by fame and fortune, resulting in risky games of high stakes poker and a line or two of cocaine. It also results in a considerable amount of debt … the kind that comes with death threats from shady people. This isn’t good, especially since his wife has made the journey to Mexico City hoping to make it big pitching health supplements.
All this inevitably leads to a climactic soccer match, made more interesting by the fact that Tato and Beto find themselves on opposite teams. Were this all “Rudo y Cursi” were concerned with, it would be a very mundane film. As it is, it’s an absorbing tale of two conflicting personalities, both so convincing that they effectively overshadow the conventional plot. One of my favorite scenes takes place on the beach, where the brothers are spending time with their visiting mother. As they sit in the sand, each son tries to one-up the other by promising to build a big house right along the shore. It’s a perfect example of evoking a rivalry, and I say “evoking” because one gets the sense that it’s been building within them ever since they were children.
This very intentionally functions as a counterpart to Batuta’s narration, which seems made up almost entirely of proverbs and facts. He begins the film, for instance, by giving us a brief history of soccer: Long, long ago, the Ancient Aztecs invented a game in which they kicked around the severed head of their enemies. We know right then and there that “Rudo y Cursi” will be a story of competition and sacrifice with just a little bit of game-playing thrown in for good measure. To extend the metaphor, the story that we’re about to see will be just like a soccer match, with opposing forces working towards their own set of goals.
By the end of the film, there’s the implication that every gets exactly what they wanted out of life, albeit in unconventional ways. To elaborate would give too much away, but rest assured that the story resolves itself appropriately, if not unexpectedly. What “Rudo y Cursi” lacks in originality is more than made up for in depth of character and simplicity of theme; we watch this film aware yet forgiving of its conventions, and that’s because we’re being told a relatable story with protagonists who seem real. This would have been very difficult to achieve were it not for the natural onscreen chemistry between Bernal and Luna. They just seem like a natural fit together. More to the point, they seemed like actual brothers–perpetually caught in that gray zone between love and hate, driven by the need to upstage each other, united in their desire to please their mother. This, I feel, is so much more compelling than a simple game of soccer.
I saw “Rudo y Cursi” this year at the Sarasota Film Festival and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the movie. The main reason I went to see “Rudo y Cursi” was because it starred Gael Garcia Bernal, whose films I generally enjoy. I felt a little unsure about the film going into it, because I didn’t know much going into the film and felt this would be a typical sports movie, but I really enjoyed seeing this. The film is truly a story of two brothers more than anything, and, though it does revolve around their passion for sports, it didn’t feel like your regular sports film. It does have some of your stereotypical sports film moments, but in the end it was a very unique movie experience. Anyone who enjoys Gael Garcia Bernal films, will definitely love this movie. He is equally serious and humorous in the film and serves as a great counterpart to Diego Luna who plays his brother. I feel that this film can be enjoyed by a wide array of viewers and would suggest this film to anyone, as it is an all around great movie.

In England the first 8 episodes of this, the second season, were shown on the BBC in the ’80s, the remaining 11 episodes being relegated to an afternoon timeslot, which was a shame because the episodes – many of which were written by John Jay Osborne Jr, the creator of the original source novel – were great television. It was later shown on Satellite channel Sky 1, but edited in order to fit ads in. Another shame.

I only hope that if seasons 3 and 4 are released by Shout Factory (soon, please!) they will be in a combined 2-season box, because season 3 consisted of only 12 episodes and season 4 only 6. There are 19 season 2 episodes here, however.
This show really is something special. I’ve been quoting it as my all-time favourite series for years… but so few people seem to remember it outside of the US.

I actually bought this camera from another store that had a huge sale and saved a ton of money even with a 2 year warranty. I’m actually a college student majoring in visual communications. This camera easily transfers data from the camcorder or just using the SDHC cards directly inserted to any PC. The editing software is basic and not thrilling by any means. If your an average individual looking to slice and dice footage this camcorder is perfect for you. The files are saved as compressed .MP4s. If your looking for another level of editing such as myself using Premiere Pro or Final Cut, you must convert the files. Easiest way to achieve this is taking the .MP4s and upload them into Quick Time Pro 7 (can be downloaded for Macs or PCs). From Quick Time you have to save the files as .MOVs. If you do not do this loading the files in an editing program you will only be able to get the audio. As well Quick Time is 30 bucks and no need for expensive converting programs out there. As far as the audio is concerned it is excellent as the picture is. Wind can give you some trouble even with the wind screen, but what condensed internal mic doesn’t? Comes with a nice touch screen and limited push buttons. Menu use is very easy and self explanatory. Fast hand movements do get a bit choppy if your recording in HD from the refresh rate. 8GB SDHC cards will give you approximately 61 minutes of record time on the highest settings. Charge time is very fast and on a full charge you will get about 75 minutes of straight recording time. You can also get some great Transcend SDHC cards for very cheap as well there is a very nice package deal for extra batteries and clothes. Like in the other reviews the only difference between this camcorder and the others in the HMX product line is the size of internal memory. So it’s up to you if its worth getting a higher series that only carries more internal memory. That is about all I can think of discussing this camcorder. This is a great commercial camcorder and totally worth the 500+ you will be dishing out.
This thing is small, compact and Amazing, Keep in mind you can get the more expensive one with the higher models but its the same thing just without the built in memory. But this is a better bet, because you can get 16 and 32 gig memory cards cheeper anyway and there removable. This camera has no memory internally like the more expensive ones but your going to purchase memory cards anyway. So purchase this and save!
I am very pleased with this camera.
It takes great HD videos and we enjoy being able to pop out the SD flash card and transfer videos to the laptop.
It’s very light and the touch screen is great.
If you are looking for a great HD camcorder this one is a great choice.

I purchased this printer instead of the 2840 due to bad driver reviews associated with the 2840. Unfortunately, the drivers for this device are bad too. Beginning with the minimum install size of 400 MB. Yes, the driver automatically installs all sorts of maintenance and other applications. No, you cannot deselect them during or after the install. The drivers also add 32 seconds to boot time for every PC I installed them on.
The upsides are that the color prints coming out of this machine are amazing. The color copy feature is awesome too. The device draws only 7.5 watts in sleep mode and it is very quiet (no loud fans running during sleep mode).
Overall printing 5 stars and driver 1 star, so I rated it in the middle. One more thing. Just FYI, I found the HP Color Laserjet 5M driver works for this printer and does not add 32 seconds or 400 MB to my PC operation. I am sure there are some features missing, but…
This is an awesome printer! For so many reasons.
1.) It’s an all in one or better yet, a 4 in one (print, copy, scan, fax). Many of the newer printers haven’t included fax recently.
2.) It’s compact – shorter than the HP 2840 which is a huge monstrosity. The toner cartridges are secured horizontally (front to back) rather than vertically (top to bottom). This saves a lot of room.
3.) It’s simple and the most user friendly printer I’ve ever purchased from HP. It’s Vista operative and the software that comes with it is more of a help than a hindrance. The organization of the buttons and functions on the front panel makes sense. The color LCD screen is also easy to navigate. You won’t feel like every navigating decision will be binding like some display screens. HP combined modern technology, simplicity, and the traditional needs of an all in one to arrive at their best printer yet.
4.) It’s affordable too in comparison to the HP 2840 all in one. The toner is also less expensive than the Q6000 series of toner that is needed in the 2840 and other related LaserJet printers.
I highly recommend this printer if you have a small/home based business! Or if you just like having it all… all in one.
They missed some of the basics on this machine. There is no manual feed operation, only one paper tray. Must remove all existing paper and realign paper tray guides to print a single envelope or any other size or type of paper. This funchtion misfeeds quite often. Takes some time to set up properly. Fax has no alternate answering machine but you can plug in an external answering machine. Print quality is good but very expensive to use. Costs about $1.25 per page in toner alone. Reliability is still undetermined. Our last three HP all-in-one laserjets failed within 3 months of new purchase. Not bad if you have another mono laser printer for regular use. Driver issues still unresolved. Noticed that many of the reveiws on this machine have been removed since I checked before purchase.

We built a house and selected this sink from a catalog a little more than a year ago. The sink has developed a crack near the drain. The sink is covered by a warranty. The problem is that you have to pay for shipping and labor. The shipping is just a small insult and does not amount to much money. It is the thousands of dollars that we have to pay to replace the sink that really sucks. To get at the sink requires removing the granite, which requires removing the stone above the granite. We do not have the final bill, but it is safe to say it is thousands and many-many times the cost of the sink. And then we have another sink that could easily fail and then we have to pay again.
This is an excellent. Saw it at a friend’s house. Amazon price was almost half that of local home supply store. The great benefit is that it does not show any scratches or dirt. Holds up extremely well to wear and heat. Very happy. Very easy to keep clean.
